On July 7, Australian progressive metal band Northlane brought the heat to Montreal at the Beanfield Theatre. Their show comes at a midpoint of their North American tour titled “Mirror’s Edge”, after their fifth studio EP Mirror’s Edge released in April. Opening the show was Windwaker and Thornhill, and co-headlined by Invent Animate. The venue was packed with metal fans eager to see the thrilling lineup of artists bringing a range of styles from melodic metal-core to heavy metal. Starting off the show was Windwaker, a hyper-pop and metal band performing songs from their album Hyperviolence that is slated to release this Friday. They were a fantastic start to the night, with lead vocalist Liam Guinane jumping off stage to sing with the crowd. Following was Thornhill, a heavy metal band that impressed with their stage presence, jumping straight into a high energy set that got the crowd moving. 
Next to the mic was Invent Animate, a metal-core band that is a true powerhouse. With each song performed, the crowd’s energy steadily ramped up with moshing and crowd surfing. Each set complemented the last, seamlessly leading to an explosive entrance by the headliners Northlane. Brimming with enthusiasm, Northlane executed a remarkable performance that is sure to be a memorable night for all there; notably setting off a wall of death in the packed venue.
