LA indie pop outfit Saint Motel burst onto the stage at Electric Brixton in London, England on Wednesday evening as part of the final leg of ‘The Awards Show Tour’. The band delivered a high-energy performance presented in the format of an awards show, with fans choosing which songs they wanted to see performed as part of the evening’s set list. Prior to the band’s appearance, regular announcements called for distinguished members of the academy to cast their votes for the evening’s show. Around the venue, QR codes could be found allowing fans to submit their votes which were then tallied and the winners announced live on stage to the surprise of both the audience and band. This resulted in a fun and dynamic show perfectly suited to Saint Motel’s upbeat and witty brand of indie pop. The fun of the Awards Show didn’t stop there though as fans were treated to two surprise awards presenters, Better Call Saul’s Patrick Fabian and a lucky audience member handpicked from the crowd by front-man A.J. Jackson. A physical Lifetime Achievement award was also presented to a fan who had seen the band more than anyone else in the room at a total of more than 5 times. The evening ended on a high with a performance of fan-favourite track “My Type” during which A.J. danced his way through the crowd to the delight of those in attendance. Supporting Saint Motel were Manchester alt-pop band Larkins, performing for the first time in almost a year following a break to pursue solo projects. The result was an infectious and energetic performance that suggests they will be a band to watch out for in the future.
