What do Saosin, Thursday, Coheed and Cambria, and My Chemical Romance have in common? Well aside from being a part of Emo Nite’s rotation of songs, they all have members of the emo super group LS Dunes! I had the opportunity to catch their first ever set at Riotfest 2022 as My Chemical Romance is my all time favourite band and I’m a huge fan of the other bands in this super group so I really wanted to catch their set and was instantly a fan. Three years and two albums later and the band continues to create incredible music and tour despite every member having packed touring schedules. With Anthony Green (Saosin/Circa Survive), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria), Tim Payne (Thursday), and Tucker Rule (Thursday), the band feels like a fever dream and with everyone bringing their respective talents to the stage – seeing them live is an absolute thrill! This most recent Los Angeles show saw them at the tail end of the “Like Magik” tour in support of their new album title Violet and since their discography is super small, they were also able to play a ton of songs from their debut project Past Lives as well. As expected, front man Anthony Green was running around the stage for the entire set and sang with great love and passion – needless to say he never had a dull moment. As soon as their opening song “Like Magick” hit, people started crowd surfing as the fans were excitedly singing along. With tracks like “Bombsquad”, “Benadryl Subreddit”, and “2022”. The night was jam packed with tunes that have already become fan favourites and a set that was absolutely legendary. Although the tour has already wrapped up this month, I’m excited to see what LS Dunes cooks up in the future!
