In celebration of their new album Piroutte – the Brooklyn based post-punk band Model/Actriz embark on a tour to promote it and land at the nearly one century old Fonda Theater. With support from Agriculture, the band demonstrates why the spotlight has been shining bright on them. Starting the show is the Los Angeles based black metal band Agriculture who are celebrating the release of their new album The Spiritual Sound. The band presented itself in a very avant garde manner when performing with their harsh sound flooding the scene and demonstrating their immense talent in composing a song together. The audience’s eyes were glued to Agriculture as they played their new songs, and immersed themselves in the meticulously built sonic world that they created. The openers gave way to Model/Actriz in stunning fashion. Starting with the song “Vespers”, front man Cole Haden made a surprising appearance at the venue’s wall platform and sang and danced while everyone scrambled to the platform to see him closer. Meanwhile, drummer Ruben Radlauer, guitarist Jack Wetmore, and bassist Aaron Shapiro played with immense force on the stage as the light made them appear as majestic shadows while Cole danced. Shortly after, Cole met up with the rest of the band on stage and continued to dance across the stage with an untethered charisma and amazing finesse all while hitting his notes with great precision. The band’s dynamic was raw, intense, as well as breathtaking and they truly knew how to take over the stage’s space by walking through it. Throughout the set, Cole would even leave the stage to have the audience sing along with him even jumping over the barricade at one point to encourage the crowd to sing with him. The aura of the venue reminded me so much of the opening scene from the 1998 movie Blade where I felt like I was in a sort of vampire rave and I loved every second of it. The band has such a beautiful form of captivating the crowd that the best way to experience it is to see it for yourself. With a stacked 12 song set list including “Amaranth”, “Mosquito”, “Slate”, and “Cinderella”, fans new and old were able to bond over the varied songs from their discography. Although their set left me excited for more of them, the world will soon see more from the band as they made it to Coachella’s 2026 lineup, thus allowing them to bring their ethereal sound and stage presence to the most esteemed festival in the country.
