Lord Huron, an indie folk band from Los Angeles took the stage at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California on Wednesday October 15th on The Cosmic Selector tour. Known for their hit tune “The Night We Met”, which has over 3.3B streams on Spotify, the group recently released an album titled The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1. Front man Ben Schneider implored the audience to listen to the album front to back, the ‘old-fashioned way’, stating, “some stuff is crafted to be listened to in sequence […] because we put a lot of care into it and you just might find that new meanings present themselves in listening order”. He joked that if you listen to it backwards “you’re gonna open up a portal, your life’s gonna change for the worse”. Throughout the band’s nearly 2 hour set – nice and lengthy for a cool Wednesday evening – Lord Huron put on a gorgeous show filled with unique lighting, nostalgic and nature-based visuals, plus a good dose of showmanship. Whether it was the live dancers in costumes reminiscent of old Hollywood telling the stories of the songs or Schneider crooning into a telephone-booth style microphone, the audience was kept in rapt attention. Including new songs such as “Ancient Names (Part 1)” and old favourites like “Meet Me In The Woods”, the set flowed nicely and sounded gorgeous. Lord Huron will continue their tour in largely the western half of the U.S., including cities such as Omaha, Austin, and Tempe.
