You are cordially invited to Amerika’s Next Top Party. Hip-hop duo PARTYOF2 took over The Drake Underground this past weekend in Toronto, and what’s a weekend without a party, right?

As the lights shut down in the venue, the audience is greeted by a disembodied robot voice preparing everyone for an “initiation” before being allowed into the party. The voice checked in between songs or “steps” and was quite sassy at times especially at the end, calling everyone a poser. Which did lead into their track Poser. The steps presented to the audience involved acceptance, letting go and evolving into what you can become, which was an unexpected message, especially going in blind for this performance. Artists Jada and Swim flowed so perfectly with each other. Not just going back and forth in verses, but also in their choreography, fitting together like musical puzzle pieces. Their music is honest, in your face and can be a bit quirky at times. Especially with the tune FRIENDLY FIRE, getting the fans to pick a winner between Swim and Jada, spoiler alert – Jada won. Not every friendship can be perfect and artistically airing out your grievances can be healthy…sometimes! Artists will harp on the fact that they’re close friends on and off stage, but with this dynamic it’s just clearly evident in their work. PARTYOF2 had the opportunity to perform at Tyler. The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw last month and if that isn’t an indication that this group is destined for greatness, I don’t know what else is.

Opening act detahjae burst out onto the stage with so much energy and you could just tell that he couldn’t contain his excitement. I did chuckle as he requested a mosh pit and the crowd was confused at said request therefore, no moshing actually occurred – a true shame I must admit. Lack of mosh pit aside, the crowd did bring the energy in return for detahjae, and he was loving every moment of it and was all smiles. It was very sweet of PARTYOF2 to bring a fan on stage to show off her bedazzled shirt and also give her a cute care package, art recognizing art in its many forms. The duo are kicking off 2026 with limited tour dates starting January 20th in Texas, but I’m sure the music scene will be seeing a lot more of them throughout the year.

“You are now official members of the party.”
