Canadian singer/songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson played a special hometown show last week on June 6th at the History concert venue in Toronto. The concert marked the end of the singer’s most recent North American tour however that doesn’t mean that she won’t be playing more live shows this summer. As the singer stated a few times between songs that this event was extra special as the singer had friends and family in attendance including her mom. There was two supporting acts in the lineup to open up the show which included Canadian artist Ouri and American singer/rapper Yaya Bey. Ouri has been touring with Charlotte Day Wilson across the continent and also served as one of her backing band-mates during the night’s main performance. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York – Yaya Bey had the responsibility as the final warm up set in front of the sold-out crowd at History. The artist would not disappoint the audience with her unique blend of rap, reggae and R&B on full display along with her supporting band who brought it all together. This latest tour from Charlotte Day Wilson is in support of her latest studio album titled “Cyan Blue” which was just released last month on May the 3rd on all major streaming platforms. This new project has produced two singles so far being “Forever” and “I Don’t Love You” which were undoubtedly on the set list in Toronto. Just like the name of the album’s title suggests, the singer would perform under a lot of blue mixed with green coloured lights at History which I think would be considered cyan by a painter. The singer’s performance would see her split her time behind the keyboard and also strapped with a guitar in the middle of the stage. Up next for CDW is an appearance at the International Jazz festival in Montreal in early July so check her out when she comes to your area.
