On December 8th rapper Earl Sweatshirt brought his 3L World Tour To Toronto for a live performance at the History concert venue. This wasn’t the artist’s first time at this particular venue as he also performed live at History back in 2022 with Action Bronson and Boldy James. Earl Sweatshirt is currently on the road promoting his latest studio album titled ‘Live Laugh Love’ which was just released in August and features production from Navy Blue, Child Actor and Black Noi$e. The rapper first rose to prominence in the late 2000’s when he was invited by Tyler the Creator to join the hip-hop collective known as Odd Future. Together they pioneered a new rap style coined as “alternative hip-hop” which has become popular in present day music. Since then, Earl Sweatshirt has dropped a total of five studio albums including the latest release mentioned earlier plus many other side projects and collaborations. On this particular Monday night in Toronto, the weather was cold outside but Earl Sweatshirt and a full line up of openers including Cletus Strap, Zelooperz and Liv.e combined to heat things up indoors.
Although all of the supporting artists were impressive, I would say the most popular by crowd reaction and my own opinion was R&B singer Liv.e who is originally from Dallas, Texas. Performing on stage with an interesting all green lighting that flooded and saturated the environment, creating a captivating aura along with her music. The HD screen serving as the back drop projected some cool visuals which included digital computer digits reminiscent of something seen in the movie The Matrix along with a large set of eyes that would look out onto the audience. Liv.e would complete a full set in Toronto with a lot of crowd participation along the way – her unique style of blending hip-hop, soul and r&b certainly earned her a lot of new Canadian fans! After a short break it would be time for headliner Earl Sweatshirt to hit the stage but first his DJ and regular collaborator Black Noi$e would take his place at the 1’s and 2’s to start things off spinning some instrumentals.
The stage backdrop once again came to life with some bright, colourful patterns which would occasionally switch up to the ‘Live Laugh Love’ logo which is appears to be three L’s stylized in hand writing layered over one another. The set list would feature a mixture of new material along with some old stuff that the fans were accustom to. Starting off with “Riot” and the new track “GSW vs SAC” which is a reference to the west coast NBA teams located in northern California. Some other notable songs from the night was “Vin Skully”, “Static” and “December 24″. The performance ultimately concluded with a one song encore of “Power” which wrapped up the show. The 3L World Tour officially came to end on December the 16th in Seattle so your out of luck for this year to see the rapper play live but make sure to follow Earl Sweatshirt on social media @SoapManWun for future updates on what he has in store for 2026.
