English singer/songwriter James Bay performed to a welcoming crowd of fans at San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom on May 13th as part of his Up All Night tour. Known for his 2014 hit single “Hold Back the River”, Bay is touring in support of his fourth studio album titled Changes All the Time which was released last October. On this day, he brought his soulful voice to the Bay Area to the happiness of a crowd who knew both his newest work and his tunes released a decade ago. James Bay’s appreciation for the crowd’s support was apparent and genuine, with him telling his fans, “it’s a dream, it’s a privilege, it’s an honor” to perform for them. And perform he did, from rousing guitar solos to intimate acoustic performances, Bay commanded the stage and showed the city of San Francisco why they continue to come out to his shows. With plenty of jamming with his band and sing-a-longs with the audience, the set opened strong with the tour title track “Up All Night” and included fan favourites like “Let It Go” (referred to by Bay as a “deep cut”) and “Just For Tonight”. Ending the set list with the aforementioned “Hold Back the River”, which it appeared the audience knew every word of. Be sure to catch James Bay on tour as the Up All Night tour continues on in 2025. He is scheduled to perform dates across the world, from Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club to the Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg, South Africa.
