Last weekend, folk singer John Vincent III brought The Roadtrip tour to the Beanfield Theatre in Montreal. Marking his third studio album, the songs chronicle his time living on the road through the pandemic, marking intimate songs on his time spent travelling. Opening was Australian singer Hazlett, who took to the stage with songs off his album ‘Goodbye to the Valley Low’, with the second part to the album released the day before. He briefly discussed the creation of his album; it took a while to get started, but once he retreated to a cabin with his guitars he wrote more songs than expected, laughing that he’d written enough for a second album should people not like the first. Hazlett wrapped up the set with his popular single ‘Blame The Moon’. Then came John Vincent III with his heartfelt tunes that set the tone of the night. Through his set he played a variety of songs from his new album “Songs For The Canyon”. Vincent took the time to reflect and offer insight to his musical process in between songs, sharing the song ‘Juniper and Yellow’ was originally recorded on a cassette, and through trying to record  in a studio he decided to keep it simple with just him and the guitar. The thoughtful reflection on his work is bolstered by the myriad of people he collaborated with along the album’s creation; bringing it to life for the audience to enjoy with his tour. Be sure to check out John Vincent III’s latest album “Songs for the Canyon” which is available now on all streaming platforms.
