Australian progressive metal-core group Northlane revisit Toronto on July 5th as part of their North American tour “Mirrors Edge” which is named after their latest EP released this past April. Bringing their neighbours along from Melbourne Windwaker and Thornhill to support, alongside Texan metal-core icons Invent Animate who co-headlined the event. Despite the rain, fans eagerly queued outside Danforth Music Hall, showcasing their enthusiasm for the evening ahead. With a stacked bill ranging from ambient melodies to electrifying rhythms and intense vocal performances, loyal metal heads were not willing to miss a beat. Windwaker kicked things off strong with a dynamic set showcasing their versatility and musical fluidity. Thornhill followed suit, evoking an emotional response from the audience with their hauntingly melodic compositions which resonated with both longtime aficionados and newer listeners alike. Invent Animate ignited the audience as soon as they entered the stage being greeted by a wave of passionate fans who welcomed them with crowd surfing, dancing, and diligently singing along to every lyric of their opening number “Sleepless Deathbed”. Despite the chaos that had ensued thus far, it only doubled with the arrival of Northlane whose set proved to be the highlight of the night which saw them playing for over an hour. Delivering momentum with each passing song, they treated the audience to a lineup of their signature tracks including “Miasma”, “Carbonized”, “Afterimage” and of course “Clockwork”. The band also surprised us with the guest appearance of Structures own Brendon Padjasek. Also a former Northlane member and Toronto local, Brendon further electrified the atmosphere, feeling right at home as the crowd showed him love while he joined Northlane on stage for a few songs. As the Mirrors Edge Tour reaches its midpoint, the Toronto show stands as a testament to the tour’s cohesive lineup and dynamic performances. The band’s musical journey across North America continues on with shows throughout the eastern side of the United States so check your local listings for concert dates near you.
