Our exclusive one on one interview with New York indie rock band Noshows and front man Max Satow:
1. “The Loop” marks another step towards your upcoming full-length album. What does this release reveal about the direction you’re taking Noshows creatively, and how does it fit into the larger story you’re building with the album?
NOSHOWS: “The Loop” shows where Noshows is headed: rawer, louder, and more guitar-driven, while still focused on hooks and energy. I wrote it during active addiction, and it captures the feeling of realizing you’re stuck in a cycle without knowing how to break it.That ties directly into Madhouse, which is about surviving the chaos in your own head. The album explores addiction, anxiety, relationships, and destructive patterns, and I wanted it to feel unpolished and honest.
2. You’ve gone from playing intimate NYC venues to international stages and now a sold-out hometown show at The Sultan Room. How does it feel to see NOSHOWS reaching this point, and what does this next chapter look like for you as an artist? Are there any goals or projects you’re especially excited to pursue next?
NOSHOWS: It’s surreal. I’ve put everything into this project without always knowing if anyone was listening. Reaching millions online was huge, but a packed out hometown show makes it feel real in a different way. This next chapter is about expanding Noshows beyond recordings. I want the live show to keep growing, and I’m excited to release Madhouse, tour more, and to keep building community around the music. 
3. Black Pontiac and NOSHOWS come from different cities and musical backgrounds, but both projects lean into emotional honesty, loud guitars, and a sense of unpredictability. What do you think connects the two artists creatively?
NOSHOWS: Both projects prioritize feeling over genre. The music is loud and energetic but rooted in vulnerability, and neither band is overly polished or afraid of messiness. We also share a belief that live shows should feel like high energy events, not reproductions of recordings…something that only exists in that moment.
4. The Sultan Room show is another stop on the Sick Puppy World Tour, with NOSHOWS joining Black Pontiac again afterward. How are you feeling going into the show, and what are you most excited for the audience to experience as you continue this run together?
NOSHOWS: I’m really excited! The Sultan Room is one of my favourite venues in New York, so a packed out hometown show there with Black Pontiac feels special. I’m most excited for people to experience the energy both bands bring live. The songs come from heavy places, but the shows are meant to feel freeing and fun. I want people to have the time of their life while feeling like they were part of something real!
