Back in May, we posted concert coverage of Australian psychedelic rock band POND performing live in San Diego at The Observatory which can be read HERE. The official name of the tour is “Stung!” which has made it’s way across North America in two legs in 2024 – the second part of the tour just started up again this month. On November 19th, Pond would take the tour north of the boarder into Canada and play a rare concert in Toronto at The Danforth Music Hall. This isn’t the first appearance the band has made in the city though as almost two years to the month in December 2022 Pond performed live at Lee’s PalaceĀ  which I was also lucky enough to be in attendance for. The official opening act for this show and most of the “Stung!” tour is New Zealand based dream pop/shoegaze band known as Fazer Daze. The two piece, indie group was the perfect musical set up for their down under neighbours known as Pond. The name of the tour “Stung!” also shares the name of the band’s latest album release which was the subject of the night’s performance.Pond would kick off the performance in Toronto with arguably one of their biggest song’s to date being “Daisy” from early 2019. The following two songs “(I’m) Stung” and “Neon River” are off the latest project ‘Stung!’ and wowed those in attendance. The rest of the set-list would contain a mix of the new tracks and also older classics such as “Sweep Me Off My Feet” and “Giant Tortoise”. My personal favourite song of the concert and also the crown jewel of the new album, “Edge of the World pt 3” caused the crowd to give the group multiple applause through out the song. Just like the song’s title, the new tune is next instalment of the series which started back on 2017’s ‘The Weather’. We’ll have to wait in see if there is a fourth part or if this will be the conclusion. Some points of note from the event was when lead singer Nick Allbrook would interact with the front row of fans and even did some crowd surfing at one point. The show would conclude with a three song encore that sent the fans home happy. The ‘Stung!’ tour is scheduled to continue on across America through out the rest of November but the next Canadian date is slated for November 28th in Vancouver, BC so check your local listings. For the fans that didn’t get a chance to make it out to the Danforth Music Hall on November 19th, you can still enjoy our exclusive photo gallery linked in just below featuring Pond and Fazer Daze. Also, don’t forget to stream the new album ‘Stung!’ from Pond available now everywhere and be sure to follow them on social media @Ponderers for more content and updates on the band!
