BRIT-award winning English rock band The Last Dinner Party took the stage at Oakland’s Fox Theatre on Wednesday May 27th. Known for their hit ‘Nothing Matters’, the group hails from London, England and are touring in support of their most recent album From the Pyre, released in October of last year. The Last Dinner Party, sadly missing founding member Georgia Davies who is back in England healing from an injury, performed an impressive set from the jump, opening with ‘Agnus Dei’, including fan favourites such as ‘The Feminine Urge’ and ‘Sinner’ from their 2024 number one debut album Prelude to Ecstasy. Donning elaborate, often baroque-inspired outfits and with a gorgeous stage set, including a metal multi-level bird mobile, a large arch, and elevated platform for band members to strut and dance across. The group kept their fans engaged throughout the performance. Lead singer and co-founding-member Abigail Morris was dynamic and provided beautiful (and at times haunting) vocals, holding the audience captive and maintaining high energy. Several band members had the opportunity to perform lead vocals throughout the show, including Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar) and Aurora Nishevci (keys, vocals). The band appeared happy to be performing at the Fox Theatre for the first time, with Morris explaining that live concerts feel like the best part of what they do, telling the crowd, “we’re grateful you’re the people who have found us and we’re the people who have found you […] it really feels like you give us such a gift by being here – without you, the songs wouldn’t feel alive”.  The Last Dinner Party will continue their headlining tour in the US through mid-June before joining the festival circuit and will support pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo on her 2027 tour. You can find her latest release From the Pyre wherever you get your music or follow the group on Instagram @TheLastDinnerParty for more content from the band.
