Galantis brought Midsommar back to The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City for a two-night run on September 11 and 12. Now in its fifth year, Midsommar is Galantis' annual summer solstice celebration, and NYC has hosted it every year since it started in 2021. This year's second night lined up with perfect rooftop weather. Zion and Telykast opened on Saturday. This was my first time both seeing Galantis and making it to a show at The Rooftop at Pier 17. The view from the venue added quite a bit to the experience. At moments when the headliner's screen was off, a glowing Brooklyn Bridge served as a backdrop to the DJ booth.

Along with their own hits, the Galantis set leaned into what felt like nostalgia for the early 2010s and beyond, mixing in Paramore, Icona Pop, and Kid Cudi, among others. At one point, Christian offered a quick tribute to Dolly Parton, and at another, giant pictures of the members of ABBA floated across the screen as a remix of "Gimme Gimme" played. Galantis have a number of shows coming up this year, with next stops scheduled for Denver and Milwaukee.
