Australian pop-rockers 5 Seconds of Summer brought a high energy performance to the TD Coliseum on Tuesday June 2nd. The band has kicked off the North American leg of their massive Everyone’s a Star! World Tour, taking fans down memory lane with old band clips at the start of the show and all throughout their extensive discography. Every night a new secret surprise song is voted on and played, much to the excitement of the fans or to the dismay to the band (for certain songs). Each secret song is announced by a lucky fan via a briefcase ala Deal or No Deal, Hamilton’s surprise song was Start Over.
The production of this tour is insane! 5 Seconds of Summer and their team have created a blockbuster show complete with camera men running around on stage, a circle catwalk / stage where the band could get closer to some of the fans and a combination car + drum set. Each section of their night and set-list is broken up into six acts: The Peak, The Fall, The Yearning, The Break Up, The Rise and The Beginning. All songs corresponding to the acts and along with their career with the band and for the members respective solo careers.
The Band CAMINO brought their Indie Rock flair for the opening slot. Both acts were scheduled to tour back in 2020, but that tour was ultimately cancelled. Lots of fans were excited to see this tour finally come to fruition, under a name sure, but better late than never. Some tours will roll around and they’re memorable for sure, but this tour feels so special and is turning into a generational healing for our inner teenagers, mine included. The boys will be back in the GTA on August 5th at the RBC Amphitheatre but until then, check out our photo gallery from the concert at TD Coliseum in Hamilton.
