Alternative blues band Houndmouth sold out the famous Fillmore Theater in San Francisco on Thursday night. The group, known for the smash hit “Sedona” performed to a crowd of excited fans. Starting the set off strong with “Darlin” off their 2015 album release Neon Little Limelight, Houndmouth kept the good energy going throughout the night. Led by front man Matt Myers (vocals, guitar), Houndmouth hails from Indiana and got their start in 2011 at which time they received a record contract from Rough Trade after label head Geoff Travis saw them perform at the SXSW festival. Opening act Briscoe started the night off strong, demonstrating solid musicalĀ talent when covering Bill Whither’sĀ “Ain’t No Sunshine” and performing their own songs like “Hooped Earrings”, which includes some fun saxophone. Whether it was an original tune like “McKenzie” or a cover of Terry Allen’s “Amarillo Highway”, during which they were joined by the supporting act Briscoe. Houndmouth went on to put on a great show. Evoking feelings of long drives through the mountains, windows down and sun up, the show was a welcome Thursday night event. You can catch them next on tour in February through the American Midwest and at venues like The Salt Shed in Chicago through till July of 2025.
