Irish indie rockers The Academic lit up London’s Electric Brixton on Friday night for the penultimate date of their ‘Easy on the Eyes’ 2024 UK tour. Fans were treated to a set-list spanning the band’s discography, from the 2015 track ‘Northern Boy’ through to the brand new single ‘Easy on the Eyes’ with a fantastic cover of The Strokes classic tune ‘Reptilia’ thrown in for good measure. Complimenting the spirited performance on-stage, the band commanded their enraptured audience in participatory moments; one incredible instance seeing the whole room crouch down before leaping in the air in unison. It was a night that will be well-remembered by the group themselves as well as the passionate fan base in London. Supporting the band was Siobhán Winifred, an alt-pop singer who has previously opened for artists including Nieve Ella, James Bay and Katie Gregson-Macleod. Siobhán was warmly received by an attentive and enthusiastic audience as she performed tracks including ‘Killers’ and her upcoming single ‘Lungs’.
