X Ambassadors recently brought their North American “Townie Tour” to San Francisco on Wednesday May 8th booking August Hall. The indie-rockers took the stage to perform songs spanning from their 2015 debut album ‘VHS’ to their recent release ‘Townie’. The band, which is composed of Sam Nelson Harris (lead vocals, frontman), his brother Casey Harris (keys), and Adam Levin (drums). They kicked off the show with their smash hit ‘Renegades’, which gained a high degree of popularity when featured in a Jeep Renegade TV commercial. They have since released three albums and collaborated with artists such as Teddy Swims and Machine Gun Kelly. Home to Ithaca, NY – the band’s unique mix of slow, emotional and high energy tunes were popular with fans both new and old at the August Hall. The talent of the band members, along with touring member Russ Flynn, was obvious as each artist performed together or had a solo which included Nelson Harris on the saxophone. Nelson Harris was engaging the audience throughout the show, sharing honest and vulnerable stories about inspirations behind songs such as ‘Your Town’ and ‘Follow the Sound of My Voice’. The latter of which is inspired by the two brothers relationship and is aptly named as it references Casey Harris’s lifelong blindness. The front man would share some words with the crowd: “This one’s for the people we don’t cherish enough”. Nelson Harris would go on to say about their new song ‘Friend For Life’: “and for the people who are here tonight, the ride or dies”. The group would finally conclude the concert with a special two song encore.
The X Ambassadors continue to prove that they can put on high quality shows and sell out venues – whether performing at festivals or for a 900 person crowd. The group are scheduled to continue on the Townie tour at venues such as Irving Plaza in NYC and Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA so check your local listings for future shows in your area. Don’t forget to check out the new album from the band titled “Townie” which is available now on all major streaming platforms.
